The fertile countryside, ideal climate for winemakers to flourish and friendly hospitality produces the perfect place for wine tours in Spain. Travel companies have all but wiped out the private wine tours in Spain given by the finest wineries in the region but a few still remain.
These unique wineries create both great wine and a wonderful experience for travelers. Each winery has a different suggestion for the amount of days to spend on wine tours in Spain, however to really experience and enjoy Spanish wine and its wineries a two day trip is necessary. Staying the night in one of the fabulous wineries allows time to soak in the sweet aromas and taste several types of wine on a clean palette.
To get the full wine tours in Spain experience go to a smaller winery and a large older winery, the contrast in tastes are noticeable in a good manor. Many of the new wineries are using hybrid grapes unlike any other in the world. While the older wineries are bound by taste, using the same methods as centuries before.
Each major city has a wine region nearby, Madrid has Rioja, Ribera del Duero, La Mancha and Toro regions all within day trip distance. While the Penedés and Priorat regions are close to Barcelona, even the Seville has the smaller wine region of Jerez. Traveling to any of the regions is quite easy and are great day trips.
The individual areas have their own unique flavors of wine and grapes. Also purchasing wine from the winery is a wholesome experience, especially after touring the exact the winery the wine was made in.
